Freedom's Light

Step into America's Story

History Isn't Just Observed Here.

It's Experienced.

Inspired by the spirit of remembrance that began in 1837 when citizens gathered in Concord, Massachusetts to commemorate the first shots of the American Revolution, Freedom's Light honors the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who forged a new nation.

From the moment you arrive at the beautifully restored Historic Pioneer Courthouse in downtown St. George, talented actors portraying historical figures mingle among the audience — sharing personal stories, engaging in conversation, and drawing you directly into the world of America's founding. Rich musical performances, stirring narration, and dramatic scenes unfold all around you.

Whether you're passionate about American history, love live theatre, or are simply looking for a meaningful evening with family and friends, this is an evening you will not forget.

America's 250th Anniversary

A once-in-a-generation celebration of the founding ideals that continue to shape our nation.

"Freedom's Light is more than a theatrical performance. It is an opportunity for audiences to step into history, share a meal together, and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and hope that established our nation. Presenting this production in the Historic Pioneer Courthouse adds another layer of authenticity and significance to the experience."

— Russ Saxton, Artistic Director

About the Production

An Original Work by Sam Payne,

Brought to Life by Local Talent

Freedom's Light is an original production commissioned by United We Pledge and the Washington County Commission, written by beloved Utah singer-songwriter, playwright, and composer Sam Payne. The production received its world premiere at the Washington County Fair in April and now returns in an expanded, fully immersive dinner theatre experience designed especially for the Historic Pioneer Courthouse.

Directed by Tina Forsyth, the production brings together a talented cast of nine local actors from the St. George community, portraying the people, events, and ideals that shaped America's founding. Costumed historical figures move among the audience throughout the evening — sharing their stories, engaging guests in conversation, and making the history of our nation feel immediate, personal, and alive.

This is the first theatrical performance in the newly renovated courthouse, making every seat a seat at a piece of living history.
