An Afternoon Tea with Martha Washington

March 30, 2026

3 PM - 5 PM

Join us for a charming Afternoon Tea with Martha Washington at the Historic Pioneer Courthouse. Inspired by the relaxed and welcoming tea gatherings hosted by George and Martha Washington, this special event invites the community to come together for conversation, connection, and light refreshments in a beautiful historic setting.

Unlike formal state occasions, the Washingtons’ tea parties were designed to help citizens feel at ease — an opportunity to meet, visit, and build community. In that same spirit, our afternoon tea will focus on friendship and fellowship, with a talented reenactor portraying Martha Washington and sharing insights into her life, her role as First Lady, and the early days of our nation.

Enjoy delightful treats, warm conversation, and a unique experience that brings some traditions of the past to life. Whether you come with friends or make new ones here, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for history and the joy of gathering together.

We look forward to welcoming you for an afternoon of tea, history, and community.

Flag Day & Juneteenth

June 14-19, 2026

During this week we will fly the original flag of the United States—the "Betsy Ross" flag—as we honor the date that Congress established the first flag design in 1777.

We simultaneously honor the legacy that Thomas Jefferson wrote: "All men are created equal [and] endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." 1776 started a fire of liberty across the globe, and here in the United States, that we are still pursuing as we create a More Perfect Union.
